I've got a question about a loud slapping noise (that's been getting progressively worse) coming from the engine of my 96 Vulcan 800 A. When it first started it was just a brief intermittent clacking noise that happened after a quick roll-off of the throttle (when pulling in the clutch to switch gears.)

Doesn't sound right. The 750's along with the 1500's have used shaft drive for many years. Shaft drive is supposed to be low maintenence and reliable. There is oil in there that needs to be changed periodically. The 750 is a tried and true design that has been in production for years. Rock solid bike overall.
