Supurb survivors is currently the most up to date mod. The clothing and other addon mods work with supurb survivors. you can disable superior survivors. This is an example mod for the superior survivors mod's Clothing AND weapon update. Do you want to have the ability to make NPCs wear different random sets of clothing than defaults?

And the best settings I found for me so far are, suvivors spawn rate at the lowest. 5% or 0% chance of spawning with guns (because there is always a guy with a shotgun making noise at 2 in the morning attracting zeds). The AI of the survivors can be rough around the edges when it comes to defending themselves against zombies or chatting to each other but they are definitely able to help a lot around your base and make the world feel more alive (lol).
