So apparently this is what fixed it. Connecting it directly to the usb cord that comes from the head unit works. I had mine hooked to the Metra AXXESS which gave me my two center console usbs back but for some reason didn’t allow CarPlay to come through even though charging worked.Just a few things I learned while installing the iDoing head unit that I wanted to share.
