Tutorial:Train signals. Rail signals are necessary to run a functioning rail system in Factorio. This tutorial explains why and how signals are used, how chain signals work, what deadlocks are and how they can be avoided. The aim is to enable the reader to keep a rail system running smoothly and fix common issues.Ingame Train Tutorial. Hi r/factorio , I have been a long time lurker for now and was absolutely hyped about 0.15.x. So I started a new world with a friend of mine and when I build a locomotive (or researched smt about rails/trains) a window popped up offering various tutorials about trains . It's just 3 minutes. Hold a train signal in the 'player hand' to visualize blocks as different color lines on the tracks. Mouse over a train to visualize where it is going (or trying to go, if stopped by signals.) A train can only pass a rail signal on its right. A green rail signal says there is no train in the next block, and a train can pass it.In this episode I show some examples of 2- and 4-lane rail setups, with both single- and double-headed trains.I mention track spacing briefly in the video, t...Hopefully this short primer helps you get trains rolling (and not crashing!)→ Join the Krydania Discord -- https://discord.gg/gtXXwBNZ9c→ Broadcasted live on...Add one train. Chain signal for "choice", rail signal for "all clear". signals break up the colored lines that get overlaid on the rails when you have a signal in hand. if anything is on that colored line (10 tiles or 1000 tiles away), the signal will be red. RTFM and don't rely on rules of thumb, pretty much. Chain in, rail out.

The new tutorial is way, way too hard. I have 700 hours in Factorio, and have played many different ways and would say I'm a pretty experienced player. When the rail block is guarded by a rail signal set to red by the circuit network -> Add a penalty of 1000. No it's not necessary at all. 2-lane rails have high throughput to begin with and with 4-lane rail you increase the size and complexity of the system a lot. Since this is 2D and there are no tunnels (without mods) you always have to cross all lanes on a left turn, therfore the throughput increase is not as good as it could be.Rule of thumb: chain signals on entrances, normal signals on exits, the chain signals in the middle of intersections aren't nescessary to make them work and only further divide the station into sections and allow multiple trains into the intersection without causing deadlock. The 3 minute tutorial on YouTube is really good at explaining this. 2.Trans factorio express Train plans path 1000 tiles long. You don't even need to setup train stops and automation. Just have one rail path that's 1000 tiles long. If you're actually using trains, this won't be hard to get. Place a rail signal at any places a train will exit . If you have a dual carriage-way system (two tracks, one way each - like a road) and you want to make a T-junction, then you will need just 3 chain signals and 3 rail signals.Map generator.
