Having a lot of low damage hits is fine, if you can get them in. A scythe though gives you the ability to dish damage out over a larger range, even if the player uses a shield.

It's a matter of you being a viable user. Uchi is good but I'd recommend blacksteel Katana. It has a more versatile moveset, solid combos and better damage. Yes, as are most all katanas. Chaos Blade is just the infamous one, but katanas in general are hated because of how good they are.
